We also have a franchise arrangement with Accrington and Rossendale College to deliver these courses at the college site or at The Art of Change training venue in Blackburn

Level 2

Certificate in Introduction to Counselling skills ICSK-L2
30 hrs part-time
Open to people 16 years and over

An introductory course for learning Introductory counselling skills at a ‘Helping work level’ as part of a volunteer or workplace role. This level of training does not qualify you to be a counsellor but does provide opportunity for you to train in the use of counselling skills to facilitate understanding of problems and to access further support. The course is ideal for people who want to find out what is involved in counselling training before committing themselves to the longer courses.

Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills

CSK-L2

90 hrs part-time
Open to people 18 years and over

This course is suitable for further development of skills at a ‘Helping work Level’. It will not qualify you to be a counsellor but does provided a progression route to accessing the higher-level courses.

Level 3

Certificate in Counselling Studies CST-L3

90 hrs part-time
Open to people 19 or over

A useful course if you are looking to access the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. The Counselling Studies is open to people who have already completed the CSK-L2 Counselling skills course or it’s equivalent. It is possible to join this course through APL/APEL (Prior learning) The main focus of this course is on preparing to work as an agency counsellor.

Level 4

Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

420 hours part-time
over 2 years

This course is open to people aged 19 or over although we normally only take students who are 25 or over and entrance is by letter and interview. This course is for people who have completed the CPCAB CST-L3 Counselling Studies training or equivalent and want to become qualified counsellors working within an agency.
 
Higher Level Courses
 

Level 6 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision (TCSU-L6)
This is a 120 hour course open to people with a minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience.

Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (PC-L5)

This is a 220 hour course for people who have completed the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and who wish to develop their independent practice.

New Course

Level 3 Certificate in Advanced Counselling Skills (CSK-L3) Working with Groups

This is a 102 hour course open to people who have completed the CPCAB's Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills (CSK-L2) or its equivalent. The course is suitable for people working in a helping capacity where counselling skills are used to facilitate the work done with groups. Successful applicants may progress to CPCAB's Level 4 in Consultancy Supervision (CSU-L4)

Fee remissions may be available to people on certain benefits if the course applied for is part of the franchise arrangement with the college.
